The power plan settings don't allow users to adjust minimum and maximum processor states, but creating a new power plan fixes the problem. Since i have Onboard audio im not so sure what drivers i have. I recently updated my Nvidia graphics card drivers (or I'll say Windows 8 did it for me) and part of that updateis the Nvidia HD Audio Driver that installs with it. I believe the problem might be, at least in my case, that I am using integrated GPU, integrated NIC, and integrated sound. I am so extremely frustrated by this issue that I really want to use profanities, just to make me feel better.

If the Sound Device is listed is simply "High Definition Audio" then most likely you're using the built-in OS driver, which is not good to use.
